Scene in Edmonds Waterfront birds

Edmonds, WALocal News

On Friday, photographer Julia Wiese captured images of a heron and a wimbrel during her walk in Edmonds. The heron perched quietly on the seawall by the Edmonds pier, while the wimbrel exhibited unusual behavior on Brackett’s Landing beach. As Wiese approached, the wimbrel moved toward the water, only to return to the high tide area once people had passed. Wiese noted, “This is the first time I have seen a wimbrel in Edmonds,” emphasizing the rarity of the sighting. Such encounters underscore the rich biodiversity along the Edmonds waterfront.

Birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts may find this area increasingly important for spotting diverse species. Local residents often appreciate the presence of wildlife as a reflection of the region's natural beauty. Engaging with nature in Edmonds fosters community interest in wildlife conservation.
