Art Beat Student theater and spring art bloom in Edmonds
Edmonds Heights K-12's musical theatre program will perform “Hadestown – Teen Edition” from May 9-18, showcasing the stories of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone. This production involves over 200 students and is directed by Dorothy Rosenthal, underscoring the school’s commitment to arts education. In parallel, the Edmonds College Art Gallery features a “Student Art Show” from May 9 to June 20, displaying diverse artworks by four emerging student artists. The exhibition includes various mediums, including mixed media, painting, and digital art, with live demonstrations during the opening reception. Faculty chair Audineh Asaf expresses pride in the students' dedication to creativity and artistic experimentation.
Both events highlight local talent and foster community connections, encouraging support for student artists. Attendees can also participate in the Third Thursday Art Walk on May 15, further enriching the cultural landscape of Edmonds. The collaboration between schools and the community reinforces the importance of arts in education and local identity.
