Local veterans groups unite to help veterans in need

Edmonds, WALocal News

In April, local veterans groups VFW Post 8870, American Legion Post 66, and Vietnam Veterans of America Post 423 collaborated to provide financial assistance to veterans in need. They presented $1,500 in Visa gift cards to Sebastian Place on April 15, a veteran living center in Lynnwood that supports low-income and disabled veterans. On April 28, the organizations donated $2,000 in gift cards to the YWCA Supportive Services for Veteran Families, which helps veterans secure stable housing. American Legion Post 66 Commander Dan Mullene affirmed their dedication to assisting fellow veterans in the community. YWCA Program Manager Karri Wright expressed gratitude, noting that the gift cards allowed them to address needs beyond their usual funding.

The donations were especially impactful for residents at Sebastian Place, according to housing program manager Zaneta McQuarter. She highlighted how even small amounts like $25 could significantly assist veterans on fixed incomes. These contributions demonstrate the community's commitment to supporting those who served.
