Help Stamp Out Hunger Leave food by your mailbox May 10

Edmonds, WALocal News

On May 10, residents can combat hunger by leaving non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. This initiative, now in its 32nd year, is the largest one-day food drive in the nation, uniting postal workers and food banks across the country. The Edmonds Food Bank, which serves nearly 1,400 households weekly, depends on this event to stock its shelves during the lean summer months. “We rely on this community-wide effort to meet the growing need we are experiencing right now,” stated Executive Director Casey Davis. Donations can include items such as canned soup, pasta, rice, and peanut butter, with letter carriers collecting them on their usual routes.

The food bank aims to ensure that everyone in the community has access to nutritious food. This year's drive is particularly significant, as food insecurity continues to rise. Community involvement remains crucial to the success of the food bank's mission to nourish those in need.
