Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Speed Dating event for candidates is scheduled for June 2 at 5 p. m. at the Edmonds Waterfront Center, providing a platform for voters to meet candidates for local offices. Participants will engage in 13-minute segments where candidates rotate tables, delivering two-minute statements followed by 11 minutes for community questions. Tom Mesaros noted that the 2023 event encouraged refreshing interactions, breaking down typical groupthink barriers.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Edmonds Civic Roundtable and aims to enhance voter knowledge and engagement. Free tickets will be available starting May 19, ensuring broad public access. The format not only benefits voters but also allows candidates to articulate their positions effectively. Encouraging dialogue among diverse community members is central to the event's mission.
