The ‘Be SMART for Kids’ program, scheduled for June 8 at Edmonds United Methodist Church, aims to educate parents and adults on gun safety. Organized by the North King-Snohomish chapter of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, the initiative focuses on preventing child injuries and deaths related to firearms. Participants will learn the SMART principles, which emphasize securing guns and discussing their presence in homes. In partnership with Public Health – Seattle & King County, the program will provide trigger locks and lock boxes to attendees. This community-focused event addresses the critical issue of gun safety, especially in homes with children.

The program aligns with broader efforts to promote responsible gun ownership and reduce firearm-related incidents. The event highlights the importance of open dialogue about firearms and their risks. Aimed at fostering a safer environment, it empowers adults to take proactive steps in securing firearms.
