Hundreds seek fabulous floral deals at annual Floretum plant sale

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Floretum plant sale on May 3, 2025, drew over 160 enthusiastic shoppers, who eagerly lined up beginning at 7:30 a. m. for a chance to access discounted plants and gardening tools. Many participants filled their wagons with items within the first hour of the sale, demonstrating the event's popularity. The Floretum Club, established in 1922, organizes the sale with donations from its members, who prepare months in advance by thinning their gardens and collecting surplus items.

This year's event set a record, raising over $11,800, which will significantly enhance the club's scholarship and grant programs. Diane Buckshnis, the club president, expressed hopes of increasing funding to $5,000 for each program, reflecting the club's commitment to community support. The sale featured more than 900 plants, alongside various non-living items, contributing to its success. This annual event not only fosters local gardening enthusiasm but also strengthens community ties. The Floretum Club's ongoing efforts and dedication to the community exemplify the importance of local initiatives in enhancing educational opportunities.
