Edmonds, WALocal News

The Lynnwood Event Center celebrated its 20th anniversary with an event attended by around 50 people, including city officials. Attendees unveiled a timeline exhibit highlighting the land's changes since the early 1900s and the center's historical significance since 2005. Speakers included Mayor Christine Frizzell and board members Wally Webster and Rosario Reyes, who emphasized the center's role as a community hub and economic driver. Frizzell recalled that planning for the center began in the 1980s, with a 1993 document signed by community members supporting the initiative. The event center has generated over $200 million in economic benefits for Lynnwood, according to Frizzell.

Future developments on the 13-acre site are aimed at enhancing housing and fostering community trust. Webster reflected on his journey from a curious passerby to a board member, witnessing the center's transformation. The PFD board's plans seek to address critical community needs and promote inclusivity.
