Donors support veterans during food drive

Edmonds, WALocal News

American Legion Post 66 and VFW Post 8870 hosted a food drive in Edmonds on April 19, collecting over 600 lbs. of food and $350 in cash donations for local veterans. The drive took place at the Wilcox Construction Red Barn, a central location that made it easy for community members to participate. Casey Davis, executive director of the Edmonds Food Bank, emphasized the increasing demand for food assistance among veterans. This collaboration is the second such event, following a successful clothing drive in January 2024 that provided cold weather items to veterans.

Gary Walderman, First Vice Commander of American Legion Post 66, thanked the community for its generous support. Post 66 Commander Dan Mullene acknowledged the strategic location of the Red Barn for maximizing donations. Both posts are committed to organizing future events to address the ongoing needs of veterans, including clothing and hygiene item drives. The community's involvement plays a crucial role in supporting those who have served.
