Fern Harlan, who passed away peacefully at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, Washington, at the age of 91, is remembered for her deep love for family and community. Born in 1933 on a Nebraska ranch, she transitioned to life in Seattle in 1952, seeking new opportunities. Harlan married her high school sweetheart, R. A. , in 1953, and they built a home in Edmonds where they lived for over five decades.

Known for her exceptional baking and dedication, she raised four children while volunteering countless hours in her church's nursery. Harlan's commitment to education led her to study bookkeeping and business machines in the 1970s to support her husband's business. Her legacy includes four children, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her values of resilience and love. Friends and family express gratitude for the support received during her life. A private family service will be held in June to honor her memory.
