The positions open for election include various council roles in Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, and Mountlake Terrace, as well as the Snohomish County Council. According to the Snohomish County Elections office, some offices file with King County Elections or the Office of the Secretary of State, as detailed in the Candidate Guide.

Additionally, candidates must formally declare their candidacy with the Public Disclosure Commission within two weeks of announcing their campaign.
