Pickleball Kingdom Lynnwood celebrates grand opening, serving fun and community connection

Edmonds, WALocal News

Pickleball Kingdom opened in Lynnwood on Friday, featuring 12 courts and amenities designed to enhance the playing experience. The facility, formerly a Bed Bath & Beyond, includes a community room and instant-replay technology, allowing players to review their matches. Mayor Christine Frizzell, an enthusiastic pickleball player, emphasized the venue's importance in energizing the community and promoting active lifestyles. The franchise owners, John and Mara Hylton, aim to foster a welcoming environment with free beginner lessons offered twice daily. Pickleball's popularity surged during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Washington officially recognized it as the state sport in 2022.

The sport appeals to various age groups, particularly those over 50, due to its lower physical demands compared to traditional racquet sports. The grand opening reflects a growing trend of indoor recreational facilities that cater to community engagement and healthier living. Pickleball Kingdom plans to host tournaments, kids camps, and corporate events in the future.
