Help available in Edmonds May 21-22 for senior or disabled property tax reductions

Edmonds, WALocal News

Seniors and disabled homeowners can receive assistance applying for property tax reductions at the Edmonds Waterfront Center on May 21-22. The event features 1-on-1 workshops with volunteers to help confirm eligibility and complete application forms. To qualify, households must have a net disposable income below $75,000 in Snohomish County or $84,000 in King County. Many applicants have reported receiving property tax reductions of up to 50%. The program allows for applications covering three historical years, although the income thresholds were lower for taxes owed in 2022 and 2023.

The initiative has been ongoing for years, yet many seniors remain unaware of it, highlighting a gap in outreach. Participants can also seek help at the County Assessor's office in Everett, where no appointment is necessary. Additional application forms and instructions are available online for Snohomish County residents.
