Sponsor spotlight Becks now offering Terramation

Edmonds, WALocal News

Beck's Funeral Home, a cornerstone of the Edmonds community since 1951, has begun offering Terramation, a composting process for human remains. This innovative method places the decedent’s remains in a chamber with organic materials, promoting decomposition over six to nine months under controlled temperature and humidity. Families receive about one cubic yard of nutrient-rich soil in burlap bags, providing a lasting memorial option. Alternatively, they may choose to donate the soil to "The Woodland," a local area dedicated to environmental protection. Julie Hartman serves as the pre-planning advisor at Beck's, available for further information at 425-771-1234.

This initiative reflects a growing demand for sustainable funeral practices that honor life while respecting the environment. Beck's commitment to evolving its services demonstrates its responsiveness to community needs. The introduction of Terramation positions Beck's as a leader in eco-friendly end-of-life options in the region.
