The Edmonds Waterfront Center celebrated Earth Day on April 22, attracting 230 attendees, including local environmental advocate Annie Crawley. Crawley highlighted advancements in environmental efforts since 1970 while calling for urgent action to protect ocean ecosystems. Her presentation featured striking footage of whales, reinforcing her message of hope and activism. Attendees had opportunities to engage with local nonprofits focused on marine conservation and ocean health. Edmonds Waterfront Center President Daniel Johnson announced a year-long speaker series to educate the public on climate change and inspire personal action.

The center, a 26,000-square-foot LEED Gold building, emphasizes environmental stewardship through its all-electric design and solar array producing 116kW of power. Johnson noted that buildings contribute nearly 40% of greenhouse gas emissions globally, particularly in urban areas. This initiative reflects the center's commitment to combating climate change and fostering community involvement in sustainability efforts.
