Heroes' Cafe welcomed over 100 veterans and their families at New Life Church in Lynnwood for a monthly gathering focused on community and support. Guests enjoyed a meal of ham, potatoes, and salad while sharing stories and camaraderie. Founded in 2017, the cafe serves as a crucial resource, connecting veterans with local organizations for assistance with housing and food. Executive Director Gary Walderman reported that Heroes' Cafe spent around $27,000 last year on temporary housing for homeless veterans, equating to approximately 270 nights. The program collaborates with the Snohomish County Veterans’ Assistance Program to streamline services and ensure veterans receive necessary support.

Attendees often wear hats adorned with military pins, showcasing their service and heritage. Larry Cambronero, a participant and commander of the Bataan-Corregidor Survivors’ Association, expressed the value of the connections made at the cafe. This initiative plays a vital role in addressing the needs of veterans and fostering a sense of belonging.
