Art Beat Playful performances and a splash of Merlot
Edmonds Heights K-12 will present an engaging SpongeBob SquarePants stage show from April 25-27, where characters band together to avert disaster from a volcanic eruption. Tickets cost $11, with all proceeds supporting the Edmonds Heights Performing Arts Program. On May 5, the Cascade Symphony Orchestra will host its season finale, “The Devil’s Violin,” at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. Violinist Tokuji Miyasaka, a rising star with over 20 first prizes at competitions, will perform under the direction of Maestro Michael Miropolsky. The concert will feature diverse compositions, including Borodin’s symphonic poem and Paganini’s renowned First Violin Concerto.
Miropolsky promises a surprise piece by Finnish composer Rautavaara that incorporates bird songs recorded near the Arctic Circle. The final performance will include Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien,” inspired by his travels in Rome. Concert tickets are available for $30 for adults, $26 for seniors, and $10 for youth.
