Edmonds Rotary Daybreakers donate 4,500 for MTHS Jazz trip to Essentially Ellington
The Edmonds Rotary Daybreakers Club donated $4,500 to support Mountlake Terrace High School's Jazz 1 trip to the Essentially Ellington Competition in New York. Band Director Darin Faul spoke at the meeting, emphasizing the competition's significance in high school jazz, calling it the "Super Bowl of high school jazz. " He highlighted that Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz has been accepted to this prestigious event ten times. The donated funds will assist students facing financial challenges in attending the trip. The meeting included a performance by the Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz Quartet, featuring seniors Justin Ho, Ethan Holt, Mya Phin, and sophomore Luca Manzo.
In addition, the meeting served to promote the 25th annual Edmonds Jazz Connection, scheduled for May 17. Tam Osborne, the Edmonds School District's manager of visual and performing arts, attended to show support for both the jazz program and the upcoming event. This donation underscores the community's commitment to enriching students' educational experiences through the arts.
