Volunteers pitch in for Edmonds Earth Day 2025
As part of their commitment to environmental stewardship, Edmonds volunteers began celebrating Earth Day 2025 ahead of schedule by engaging in impactful cleanup efforts throughout the community. Led by the Edmonds Stewards, participants tackled the removal of invasive plants, such as English ivy and holly, at Hutt and Yost parks, while also spreading mulch in the buffer area around the Edmonds Marsh to promote ecological health. Divers at the Edmonds Marina donned scuba gear to remove years of debris that had accumulated under the moorages, showcasing a hands-on approach to environmental care. For those who couldn't participate on the initial day, the community has organized more Earth Day events, including a celebration featuring award-winning filmmaker Annie Crawley as the keynote speaker on April 22. This event will take place from 5-8 p.
m. at the Edmonds Waterfront Center, emphasizing the importance of ocean advocacy. Additionally, the Edmonds Ivy League will host volunteer events on April 25 and 26 to continue the fight against invasive plant species. These efforts reflect a strong community commitment to preserving local ecosystems and engaging residents in meaningful environmental action. With such initiatives, Edmonds sets a precedent for proactive environmental stewardship.
