The situation began in a vehicle on Highway 99, where the victim and her two children managed to escape and call 911 after the male suspect drove off. Police quickly located the suspect at a Shoreline address, where he was armed with at least one knife and made threats against law enforcement. The King County Crisis Negotiation Team, alongside mental health professionals, was called to the scene to facilitate communication. Officers used bullhorns to engage with the suspect over several hours, while two SWAT teams and medics from the Shoreline Fire Department were on standby.

Ultimately, the suspect surrendered peacefully but was found to have sustained self-inflicted injuries. This incident highlights the complexities of domestic violence situations and the critical role of crisis negotiation in such high-stakes environments.
