House of Wisdom seeks volunteer tutors for elementary, middle school students

Edmonds, WALocal News

The House of Wisdom, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educational equity, is currently seeking volunteer tutors for students in the Edmonds School District. Launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization has evolved from assisting 20 immigrant students to now supporting over 150 children, primarily in elementary and middle school. The tutoring program encompasses subjects such as English, math, and science, aiming to bridge the educational gap for underserved communities. Volunteers enjoy flexible scheduling and the opportunity to earn community service credits, making it an appealing option for those looking to give back. Founder and President Ahmad Hilal Abid highlights the vital role volunteers play, describing them as the "heartbeat" of the mission.

The organization also provides training and mentorship to ensure tutors can make a meaningful impact. Those interested in contributing to this cause can sign up by contacting the organization via email or phone. This initiative not only enriches the lives of students but also fosters a spirit of community involvement and leadership development.
