Girls on Run leader Megan Wolfe honored with Rick Steves Service Above Self award

At the Rotary Club of Edmonds' monthly meeting, Megan Wolfe was celebrated as the recipient of the Rick Steves Service Above Self award for her transformative work with Girls on the Run. Over ten years, Wolfe has expanded the program from 40 girls to more than 5,000 lives influenced across Snohomish County, emphasizing diversity, inclusion, and personal growth. Her efforts have not only taught essential life skills but have also sparked a movement towards equity. Girls on the Run Communications Director Audrey Johnson praised Wolfe as a bridge builder and advocate for those without a voice. Keynote speaker Rick Steves underscored the importance of Wolfe's work, especially in light of increasingly restrictive laws impacting marginalized communities.

He urged the audience to support initiatives that promote inclusion and civic engagement. Wolfe accepted the award with heartfelt gratitude, reflecting on her personal journey and the joy of serving her community. Her commitment to empowering girls and fostering a compassionate society resonates deeply, marking her as a true community leader.
