Edmonds Ivy League invites you to remove invasive plants at South County Park April 25-26

The Edmonds Ivy League is inviting community members to participate in Earth Day volunteer events on April 25 and 26 at Southwest County Park, focusing on the removal of invasive plants like ivy and holly. Scheduled from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m.

each day, the events will convene at the main parking lot near Olympic View Drive and 180th Street Southwest. Volunteers should bring garden gloves and dress for outdoor work, as tools will be provided. Under the leadership of Mikael Ohman, the Edmonds Ivy League has been committed to maintaining the park since 2018, contributing over 1,000 volunteer hours in 2024 alone. They have successfully completed invasive plant removal in the southern section of the park and planted more than 400 trees and native shrubs since fall 2023. This initiative not only supports the local environment but also fosters community engagement.
