Edmonds, WALocal News

Dorothy Dodd was born on December 27, 1930, to immigrant parents from Odessa, Russia, and was the youngest of 11 children in her family. Growing up on Sauvie Island, Oregon, she embraced a self-sufficient lifestyle, eventually becoming the only sibling to graduate high school. In 1951, she married Jack Dodd, a Korean War veteran, and devoted herself to being a housewife until his untimely passing in 1980. Following his death, Dorothy transitioned to working in a coffee shop, where she rose from server to manager. Her love for boating and a special 1954 Corvette highlighted her adventurous spirit and tenacity; she tirelessly sourced parts for the car from across the nation, ultimately transforming it into a stunning convertible.

Dorothy's determination inspired those around her, including a UPS driver who later became a friend. She remained an active member of North Sound Church until her passing, where she was remembered fondly by her community. A memorial service is set for April 27 at North Sound Church in Edmonds, honoring her legacy of resilience and love.
