Lynnwood Rotary Club announces March Career Technical Education Student of Month

Terina Papatu, a dedicated senior at Mountlake Terrace High School, has been named the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Month for March 2025 by the Lynnwood Rotary Club. Nominated by her journalism advisor, Vincent DeMiero, Papatu has shown exceptional commitment to her school’s journalism program throughout her four years. Her impressive accomplishments include being selected to represent Washington at the prestigious Free Spirit Conference in Washington, D. C. , and receiving two top 10 national nominations in the National Student Press Association Editorial Leadership Best of Show competition.

Notably, she made history as the first person of Samoan descent and the first Pacific Islander to serve as editor-in-chief of The Hawkeye and TheHawkeye. org. In addition to her academic achievements, Papatu works as a social media intern for the My Neighborhood News Network. The Rotary Club highlighted her ability to connect with peers, emphasizing her reputation as a “people person” who embodies warmth and leadership. The CTE Student of the Month program recognizes students who excel in Career and Technical Education pathways, preparing them for future success.
