American Legion, VFW posts collecting food, personal hygiene Items for veterans April 19

Edmonds American Legion Post 66 and VFW Post 8870 are set to host a donation event on April 19 in downtown Edmonds, aimed at collecting food and personal hygiene items for veterans in need. The drop-off will occur at the Wilcox Construction Red Barn from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m.

, inviting community participation. Typical hygiene items requested include deodorant, toothbrushes, and razors, while food donations will support local food banks in Edmonds and Lynnwood. American Legion Post Commander Dan Mullene highlighted the pressing need for assistance, noting that over 50,000 veterans in Snohomish County often struggle during the spring. VFW Post Commander Duane Bowman expressed appreciation for the community's generous responses in previous donation drives, which brought in significant amounts of food, clothing, and money. The event also provides an opportunity for community members to dispose of used American flags responsibly.

Both posts are grateful for the support from Wilcox Construction and its president, Matt Lessard, for facilitating the event. Donations can be made in various forms, including cash, checks, and credit/debit cards, further encouraging community involvement.
