Earth Day volunteer opportunities in Edmonds parks April 19

Edmonds, WALocal News

On April 19, Edmonds will celebrate Earth Day with a community volunteer event focused on restoring native wildlife habitats in local parks. The initiative, organized by Sound Salmon Solutions, will take place from 10 a. m. to noon at Hutt Park, Pine Ridge Park, and the Edmonds Marsh. Families with young children can participate in fun activities like Ivy Pulls at Hutt Park or join the Mulch Madness work party at the marsh.

For older children and adults, there will be opportunities to remove invasive blackberry roots at Pine Ridge Park, providing a meaningful workout while contributing to the environment. The volunteer Edmonds Stewards, known for their decade-long efforts in habitat restoration, will lead the work parties, illustrating a strong community commitment to local conservation. Participation is free, but pre-registration is necessary due to limited availability, emphasizing the need for organized volunteer efforts. Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, which encourages family involvement. For further details and ongoing volunteer opportunities, residents can visit the City of Edmonds website or contact Jennifer Leach.
