Goodbye Taste Edmonds, hello Edmonds Block Party Chamber announces new community celebration Aug. 8-9

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce is transitioning from the long-standing Taste Edmonds festival to a new community event called The Edmonds Block Party, set for August 8-9 at Civic Center Playfield. This two-day celebration will feature live music, a vibrant beer garden, and a diverse array of food vendors, promising to showcase the best of Edmonds. The decision to replace Taste Edmonds stems from its declining viability and the evolving needs of the local community, particularly amid challenges faced by the restaurant industry. Chamber president Ryan Crowther highlighted the importance of adapting community events to ensure their sustainability and success. The new Block Party will include family-friendly activities and free admission for attendees under 21 on Saturday, making it accessible to younger audiences.

With a focus on inclusivity and engagement, the event aims to establish a new tradition that resonates with current community values. As Crowther stated, "it became clear that we needed a fresh concept to meet the changing needs of our community. " The Edmonds Block Party is expected to bring together residents in a celebration of culture and community spirit.
