Walk Talk tours begin - starting with Westgate neighborhood center - My Edmonds News

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds Walk & Talk tour commenced on March 27, inviting residents to share their concerns about local safety and infrastructure. Approximately 15 participants, including City Councilmember Vivian Olson, gathered to voice issues such as speeding, unsafe sidewalks, and a lack of crosswalks on 100th Avenue West. The city organized these tours to foster community engagement, enabling residents to discuss their observations with city planners. Suggestions made during the event included creating buffer zones with trees and shrubs to separate sidewalks from roadways, which would enhance pedestrian safety and beautify the area. Shane Hope, the Acting Planning and Development Director, noted that such enhancements could significantly improve the neighborhood's overall aesthetics and safety.

The tour exemplified the city’s proactive approach to involving residents in urban planning, allowing for direct feedback on critical issues. Additional tours are scheduled at various neighborhood centers, further emphasizing the city’s commitment to community involvement. This initiative not only addresses immediate concerns but also seeks to create a safer and more attractive environment for all residents.
