Public Invited RFA Annexation Town Hall Meetings

Edmonds, WALocal News

Residents of Edmonds are invited to attend town hall meetings titled “Annexation Answers: What the RFA Vote Means to You,” aimed at discussing the proposed annexation to the Regional Fire Authority. Scheduled for February and March, these meetings will prepare the community for a special election set for April 22, 2025, where voters will determine the future of fire services in the city. Leadership from both the City of Edmonds and South County Fire will present essential information and answer questions from the public. Since 2009, Edmonds has been without its own fire department, relying on a contract with South County Fire since 2010, which is set to expire at the end of 2025. If the annexation is approved, property owners in Edmonds would pay for fire services directly to South County Fire, marking a significant shift in service management.

One of the town hall meetings in March will be held in a hybrid format, allowing participation via Zoom, with details to be announced. This initiative underscores the city's commitment to engaging residents in the decision-making process regarding their fire and emergency medical services. For further information, residents can visit the city's website or contact the provided email.
