Hwy 99 Revitalization - City of Edmonds, WA

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds is actively engaging residents in an online open house to discuss the Highway 99 Gateway & Revitalization, Stage 2 Project, with a focus on safety and aesthetics. This initiative is designed to enhance Highway 99, particularly between 244th Street SW and 210th Street SW, by converting the existing two-way left turn lane into a raised median. The project will also feature landscaped areas and mid-block left turn pockets to improve overall safety for motorists and pedestrians alike. A key addition is the proposed High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) signal, which aims to facilitate safer pedestrian crossings just north of 234th Street SW. Furthermore, the project includes the installation of gateway signs at each end of the city limits to create a consistent visual identity for Edmonds.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the open house and complete a survey regarding the project before August 15th. For those needing language assistance, services are available free of charge. This revitalization effort reflects the city's commitment to improving infrastructure and community safety.
