Dale Turner YMCA Operates Yost Pool for 2021

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Dale Turner YMCA is preparing to operate Yost Pool for the eighth summer, a critical community resource, while strictly adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols. This year, pool users will be required to pre-register and pay for swim sessions to maintain capacity limits and ensure safety. Various activities, including swim lessons and recreational swimming, will be offered; however, the hot tub will remain closed, and lockers will not be available due to health guidelines. Executive Director Carolan Cross acknowledged the challenges presented by COVID-19, particularly the loss of lifeguard staff, which has complicated operations. Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Angie Feser emphasized the importance of this partnership for providing safe swimming opportunities.

The preseason schedule kicks off on June 14, with the regular season commencing on June 28, coinciding with the beginning of the Edmonds School District’s summer break. This initiative not only serves the community's recreational needs but also supports the YMCA's recovery efforts following the pandemic. The YMCA is also actively hiring for several positions to support these operations.
