Contractor Selected for Development of Civic Park

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds has officially selected A-1 Landscaping and Construction as the contractor for the Civic Park development, marking a significant step in the project. Estimated construction costs range from $13. 5 million to $15 million, potentially leaving a funding gap of $1. 5 million to $2. 9 million.

The City Council will consider awarding the contract and additional funding during a meeting scheduled for July 6, 2021. The park's design, created with extensive community input, features youth athletic fields, upgraded sports lighting, and an inclusive playground. The funding for the park includes $3. 47 million in grants and $1. 35 million in Park Impact Fees.

The project has faced delays due to complex design requirements and rising construction costs. Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Angie Feser emphasized the project's challenges, particularly concerning soil conditions. Community members are encouraged to participate in the upcoming meeting to voice their opinions on the park's funding and design alternatives.
