The City of Edmonds is inviting the community to contribute to the Bill Anderson Memorial Scope Fund, a campaign designed to purchase a wildlife viewing scope for the Edmonds Marsh. This initiative is a heartfelt tribute to Bill Anderson, a beloved wildlife photographer and advocate for marsh preservation, who passed away on February 2, 2021. Donations will be accepted from September 10 through October 31, 2021, with a fundraising goal of $5,000 to bring this project to fruition. The selected scope is a SeeCoast Mark I telescope, featuring a 20x60 optic and mounted on an ADA-accessible base to ensure accessibility for all. Mayor Mike Nelson highlighted Anderson's profound impact on the community, mentioning his role in the Puget Sound Bird Fest and his passion for sharing wildlife experiences with others.

The installation of the scope is scheduled for spring 2022, providing a lasting space for wildlife observation. This initiative not only honors Anderson's legacy but also enhances community engagement with local wildlife. Residents are encouraged to donate by mailing checks or calling to contribute via credit card, specifying the Bill Anderson Memorial Scope Fund.
