Residents Invited to the Civic Park - City of Edmonds, WA

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds is actively engaging residents in the Civic Park development, particularly in the selection of an artist for a key artwork feature. A public meeting is set for September 23, 2021, where five artists will showcase their qualifications in a Zoom webinar. With a budget of $90,000 allocated by the Arts Commission, the initiative aims to create a signature artwork that enhances the park's welcoming character. Community members are encouraged to participate by asking questions during the presentations and providing feedback through the webinar Q&A or email. This process underscores the city's commitment to transparency and public involvement in the arts.

The selected artist will work closely with park designers and the community to develop concepts, which will then be presented at a subsequent public meeting. Ultimately, the final design will undergo approval at a Public Hearing with the City Council in early 2022. This initiative not only enriches the park but also fosters a sense of community ownership and pride in public spaces.
