Edmonds Extends Grants to More Local Businesses and Households

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds City Council has approved important amendments to the Edmonds Rescue Plan Fund (ERPF), designed to extend COVID-relief grants to a wider array of local businesses and households. Funded by approximately $11. 9 million from the federal American Rescue Plan Act, the ERPF focuses on recovery from the economic crisis caused by the pandemic. A significant change allows businesses to qualify for grants even if they have received up to $10,000 in prior assistance, increasing the potential support to 50 businesses this year and an additional 25 in 2022. The grants aim to assist small businesses that have been severely impacted yet overlooked by previous aid efforts.

On the household side, the support program has expanded its income eligibility to 60% of the Edmonds Median Income, thus enabling more families to access essential grants. This includes direct financial assistance for housing, food, medical bills, and childcare costs. The City has partnered with local nonprofits to administer the household grants, ensuring effective outreach and support. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, with timely responses expected within 7-10 days.
