Highway 99 Construction Virtual Kick-Off Meeting

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds is preparing for a virtual kick-off meeting regarding the Highway 99 Gateway-Revitalization Stage 2 Project scheduled for June 16, 2022, from 6 PM to 7 PM via Zoom. This project aims to significantly improve safety along Highway 99, between 244th Street SW and 210th Street SW, by converting the existing two-way left turn lane into a raised median with mid-block left-turn pockets. A High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) signal is proposed just north of 234th Street SW to enhance pedestrian safety, a critical concern for the community. Additionally, new gateway signage will be installed at both ends of the city’s Highway 99 frontage to establish a cohesive visual identity. The kick-off meeting will allow community members to ask questions and gain insights into the project’s objectives.

Language accommodations are offered for attendees who need them, ensuring inclusivity. Residents are encouraged to sign up for email updates to stay informed about the construction progress. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to enhancing both safety and aesthetics along this vital corridor.
