City of Edmonds Announces Pride Event June 30th

The City of Edmonds is set to celebrate Pride Month with an event on June 30, 2023, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the Historical Museum. Mayor Mike Nelson will open the event with remarks highlighting the vital contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. Following his address, attendees will hear storytelling from Under the Rainbow, sharing personal and impactful experiences related to Pride. In the lead-up to the event, Pride flags will adorn downtown Edmonds, creating a vibrant atmosphere of inclusivity. Fifth Avenue North will be closed to vehicles during the celebration to ensure a safe environment for attendees.

Participants are encouraged to engage in chalk art and visit information tables after the formal program. Additionally, a Pride crawl will showcase local businesses, each offering specials and donating a portion of proceeds to the Human Rights Campaign. This initiative not only promotes visibility but also fosters community spirit and support for LGBTQ+ rights.

The memorial park includes a steel beam from the World Trade Center and honors the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.
