Open House for Transportation Plan Update

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds is set to hold an Open House on September 18, 2024, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM, inviting residents to engage with the Draft Transportation Plan, a critical element of the city's Comprehensive Plan. The gathering will take place at the Plaza Conference Room above the Edmonds Library, where a presentation will commence at 6:30 PM. Attendees will learn about proposed projects designed to enhance the safety and efficiency of the transportation system, which includes upgrades to intersections, traffic signals, and the addition of sidewalks, bike lanes, and multi-use paths. A focal point of the plan is the introduction of Multimodal Level of Service (MMLOS), a framework that evaluates transportation infrastructure needs across various modes, including vehicles, pedestrians, transit, and bicycles. The city is actively updating its 20-year Comprehensive Plan, and input from the public is crucial for shaping these projects.

Residents are encouraged to review the preliminary list of projects and provide feedback. For those requiring language assistance, services are available free of charge by contacting city officials. This initiative represents a significant step towards creating a more integrated multimodal transportation system in Edmonds.
