Open House to Discuss DEIS and Draft Comp Plan

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds is set to host an open house on October 28, 2024, at City Hall, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, focusing on the draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) and draft comprehensive plan. This comprehensive plan outlines the city's vision and policy direction for sustainable growth over the next 20 years, addressing crucial areas such as land use, housing, and transportation. Community members are invited to review and comment on the proposals, which include a no-action alternative and two action alternatives aimed at accommodating projected growth. The DEIS assesses the potential environmental impacts of these strategies, including effects on water resources and public services, and outlines mitigation measures for any significant adverse impacts. While RSVPs are encouraged for logistical purposes, they are not required for participation.

This open house reflects the city's dedication to transparency and community engagement in the planning process. The comprehensive plan update is mandated by the state and must be completed by the end of 2024. Interested residents can access more information and documents related to the DEIS and comprehensive plan on the city's website.
