Free EKG screenings offered to young people April 2 at Lynnwood HS

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Edmonds School District is set to host a crucial EKG Youth Heart Screening event on April 2 at Lynnwood High School, collaborating with the Nick of Time Foundation and the University of Washington Center for Sports Cardiology. This event is open to all young individuals aged 12-24, regardless of their school affiliation, and emphasizes the importance of early detection of heart conditions. Participants must preregister, as no walk-ins will be allowed, ensuring an organized and efficient screening process. The screening will include a heart health survey to identify risk factors, a painless EKG test, and an on-site medical review by experienced doctors specializing in youth heart health. Given that Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a leading cause of death among active young people, this initiative aims to address a pressing health concern in the community.

Furthermore, each participant will receive essential CPR and AED training, enhancing their ability to respond in emergencies. This event not only highlights the importance of heart health but also empowers youth with life-saving skills. The partnership with credible organizations underscores the commitment to promoting health and safety within the community.
