Joseph Douglas "Joe" Malan, born on May 24, 1940, in San Francisco, was a notable figure celebrated for his contributions to both family and community. A standout athlete, he was recognized as a San Francisco All City Basketball player before embarking on a successful career in the dairy industry. After marrying Linda Walker in Yosemite National Park in 1965, Joe's professional journey took him to Germany with the Overseas Service Corporation, and he later held managerial positions at several dairy plants across the U. S. Joe's adventurous spirit was evident in his love for travel, fly fishing, and boating in the stunning landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.

He was deeply involved in volunteer work, including with the Edmonds Laebugten Salmon Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Salvation Army board. Following his passing on March 19, 2025, he is remembered fondly by his wife, daughter, and grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for April 5, 2025, at the Edmonds Yacht Club, where friends and family will gather to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Salvation Army or Special Olympics, reflecting Joe's enduring commitment to service and community.
