"James and the Giant Peach," a musical based on Roald Dahl's cherished book, captivates audiences with its tuneful score by the Tony Award-nominated duo Pasek and Paul, along with a quirky book by Timothy Allen McDonald. The narrative follows young James, who, after being sent by his conniving aunts to chop down a fruit tree, discovers a magical potion that creates a gigantic peach. Inside this peach, he meets a cast of human-sized insects, each with unique and vibrant personalities. As they face various challenges, including hunger and encounters with sharks, James's quick thinking helps the group bond and work together. The adventure culminates in an unexpected landing on the Empire State Building.

In conjunction with the musical, the City of Lynnwood is offering multiple artistic opportunities, such as mural designs for the Community Justice Center and a juried art show at city hall. The deadline for mural applications is April 13, while the Lynnwood Idol singing competition for students has a deadline of April 30. Auditions for the musical run through April 2, making this a vibrant time for local artists and performers.
