Overnight I-5 lane reductions and ramp closures scheduled for light rail work

Sound Transit contractor crews are scheduled to implement overnight lane reductions and ramp closures on northbound I-5 in Shoreline as part of the ongoing Lynnwood Light Rail extension project. From February 18 to February 21, the right two lanes of northbound I-5 will be closed nightly from 11 p. m. to 5 a. m.

, causing significant disruptions in local traffic patterns. In addition, the Northeast 175th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will also close during these hours, further complicating travel for commuters. These temporary closures are a necessary step in the construction of the light rail, which aims to improve public transit accessibility in the region. Residents are urged to plan accordingly, as delays are expected during these times. This construction represents a vital investment in infrastructure that will benefit the community in the long term.
