YMCA of Snohomish County hosts free girls flag football clinic Feb. 23

Edmonds, WALocal News

The YMCA of Snohomish County is organizing a free Girls Flag Football Clinic on February 23, from noon to 2 p. m. at Cascade High School in Everett, catering to girls from grades 1 to 12. This event features expert coaching from YMCA staff and guest instructors, including Melissa Strother, the first woman to score in an Arena Football League game, who will share her inspiring journey. The clinic focuses on skill development, confidence-building, and making the sport accessible and enjoyable for all participants.

With flag football's popularity soaring—experiencing a 63% increase in participation since 2019—the YMCA is committed to empowering young female athletes. Financial assistance is provided to ensure that cost does not hinder participation. For those who wish to continue their flag football experience, registration is also available for the YMCA’s Spring Girls Flag Football League, scheduled from March 3 to May 10. This initiative not only promotes physical activity but also fosters friendships and life skills through team sports. Interested individuals can secure their spots at www.
