Cedar Way Elementary students prepare for Disneys 101 Dalmatians KIDS debut

Edmonds, WALocal News

Cedar Way Elementary students are gearing up for their first performance of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS at Mountlake Terrace High School, with shows scheduled for February 21 and 22, 2025. The production showcases the talents of 73 students, with 51 main cast members from grades 4-5 and 22 younger students participating in the opening act. Funded by a Disney Musicals in Schools grant through the Seattle Theater Group, this initiative aims to provide greater access to the arts for students, especially those from low-income families. PTO President Kelcie Trine notes that their organization prioritizes inclusivity, ensuring that all families can participate regardless of financial constraints. The students have dedicated significant time to rehearsals since October 2024, building camaraderie and friendships across grades.

Theater Manager Vincent Orduna provided essential stage conduct guidelines to prepare the young actors for a safe and professional performance environment. The initiative not only nurtures the students' artistic skills but also fosters a sense of community within the school. This production represents a significant achievement for Cedar Way Elementary, emphasizing the importance of arts education in local schools.
