Dale Turner YMCA Operates Yost Pool for 2021

Edmonds, WALocal News

The Dale Turner YMCA is preparing to operate Yost Pool for the summer of 2021, marking its eighth year of service to the Edmonds community. In light of COVID-19 safety protocols, new operational procedures will be implemented, requiring pool users to register and pay in advance for swim sessions to comply with capacity limits. Various swimming activities, including swim lessons, lap swims, and family swims, will be offered, although the YOST Penguins swim team will not be available this year due to staffing shortages. Executive Director Carolan Cross acknowledged the challenges faced in reopening the pool, highlighting the YMCA's dedication to providing a safe recreational environment for residents. The partnership with the City of Edmonds plays a crucial role in ensuring that citizens have access to Yost Pool this summer.

Limitations will include a closed hot tub, unavailable lockers, and restricted seating on the deck. Guests are encouraged to come prepared and minimize time spent in locker areas, and they should bring their own water bottles as drinking fountains will not be operational. The preseason schedule will commence on June 14th, with the regular season kicking off on June 28th, aligning with the Edmonds School District's summer break.
