Contractor Selected for Development of Civic Park

Edmonds, WALocal News

Edmonds, WA, has selected A-1 Landscaping and Construction as the contractor for the much-anticipated Civic Park development, following a competitive bidding process. The City Council will soon deliberate on the funding required to proceed with the construction, which could face a shortfall ranging from $1. 5M to $2. 9M. The park's proposed design features a variety of amenities, including youth athletic fields, a climbing wall, and an interactive water feature, all developed with significant community engagement.

Currently, $12. 1M is allocated for construction, which includes grants, donations, and Park Impact Fees. However, the project is challenged by high water tables and poor soil conditions, resulting in increased costs over the past three years. Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Angie Feser emphasized the complexities involved in the design and construction processes. Community members are encouraged to provide input during the virtual City Council meeting on July 6, 2021, to discuss funding and project alternates.

This development represents a significant investment in public infrastructure and recreational facilities for the residents of Edmonds.
