Mayor Nelson commended Bennett for her leadership style, which reflects the community-focused values of safety, care, and compassion that Edmonds prioritizes. After a thorough background check confirmed her credentials, Bennett is scheduled to take on her new role on September 16, 2021. With over three decades of experience in law enforcement, she has held significant positions, including Chief of Police in Maple Valley and Sammamish.

Her academic achievements include a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Justice, a Master’s in Psychology, and a Doctorate in Education, highlighting her commitment to education and professional development. Bennett has also been an educator in criminal justice since 1998, further contributing to her expertise in policing. This appointment marks a significant step for the Edmonds Police Department as it continues to focus on community engagement and effective policing strategies.
