Be Part of a Legacy with a Gift to the Bill Anderson Memorial Scope Fund

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds is encouraging residents to support the Bill Anderson Memorial Scope Fund, which aims to purchase a wildlife viewing scope for the Edmonds Marsh in memory of local wildlife photographer Bill Anderson. Anderson, who passed away on February 2, 2021, dedicated his life to wildlife preservation and shared his passion through photography, making a significant impact on the community. Donations will be accepted from September 10 to October 31, 2021, with a target of raising $5,000 for the project. The chosen scope, a SeeCoast Mark I telescope, features a 20x60 optic and is designed with an ADA accessible base to ensure inclusivity for all viewers. Mayor Mike Nelson highlighted Anderson's role in fostering connections within the Edmonds community through his love for the Marsh.

This initiative not only honors Anderson's legacy but also enhances wildlife observation opportunities for residents and visitors alike. Those interested in donating can do so by mailing a check or calling to donate by credit card. More information about Anderson’s contributions can be found during the upcoming Puget Sound Bird Fest.
